Get the Look: Bring Tuscany Home

Tuscan design is by far, one of my favorite choices of design! When it comes to Tuscan design, the things to keep in mind are rustic and earthy. The style was founded in the rolling hills of Tuscany – so there is a lot of inspiration coming from nature. You'll want to use a lot of stone, iron accents, wood, and texture.

Color
The Tuscan color palette consists of earthy tones, reminiscent of a Tuscan hillside - warm shades of terracotta, burnt orange, olive, sage green, off white, white, and burgundy are the most typical.
Flooring
Hard finishes including: natural stone, slate, tile, and dark wood are floor finishes that add to the Tuscan theme. One element of the Tuscan charm is carrying the outdoors, in, often continuing the floors from the outside throughout the inside of the home, separating the two spaces with dark, rich, wood-framed, French or sliding doors. Many Tuscan spaces incorporate outdoor patios as an extension of their living space, creating a inviting outdoor setting for loved ones to eat and gather.
Decor and Furniture
Aged, rustic, hand carved, detailed, solid furniture pieces are often found in Tuscan homes. Wrought iron, pottery, and antiques are a favorite and are assembled around a neutral color palette.
Walls
The walls of the room can really set the mood. Most commonly found in Tuscan design are stucco, weathered walls, stonework, faux finish, and color washing. Special paint finishes can help you achieve the aged feel. Exposed wood beams along the ceiling is also commonplace in this design.

Coffee Anyone?

This coffee bar was added as a great design and conversation piece. A blank, empty wall in the kitchen was transformed to a lovely coffee bar; a great accompaniment to the Mediterranean theme I love to incorporate in my design work.

Home Renovation Project: Stairway

BEFORE

AFTER

Being partial to Mediterranean design, this 70s traditional themed home was catapulted into modern times by removing the carpet and wood balusters and replacing them with dark stained wood dowels, saltillo tile on the risers, adding iron balusters, and staining the rails.

Cozy and Contemporary

What's not to love about this space? I love EVERY detail in this room: the neutral palette, with just the right amount of black to accent, the cream white sofa & chairs with the nail head detail, and I absolutely adore the zebra print ottoman! Perfect score!!

Home Renovation Project: Front Entryway

Nothing says "welcome home" more than an well designed front entry or foyer.  The entry of your home is a great place to express your style and invite others into your space.  This Mediterranean, eclectic entry was designed with beautiful earth tones, with the abstract painting being the focal point.  No detail was left undone, right down to the brass cover plates, and a cute little basket so loved ones never have to lose their keys again (smile).

A perfect score! 💯
